Understanding SAINT® TMS: How It Works & What to Expect
SAINT® is an FDA-cleared treatment for adults with major depressive disorder who have not improved on antidepressants in the current episode. These videos explain how it works and how it differs from conventional TMS.
SAINT® is an FDA-cleared, fMRI-guided form of TMS developed at Stanford. Most patients complete treatment in one week — not the six weeks standard TMS requires.

Is SAINT® TMS Right for You?
Tried antidepressants without enough relief? SAINT® TMS is an FDA-cleared, fMRI-guided treatment for adults with major depressive disorder who have not improved enough with antidepressant medication.
SAINT® uses a personalized brain target and delivers treatment over five consecutive days. It differs from standard TMS in its targeting approach, treatment schedule, and research background. In a small randomized trial, 11 of 14 people receiving active treatment reached remission at the four-week assessment, compared with 2 of 15 receiving sham treatment. Results vary, and a five-day treatment course does not guarantee remission in five days.
How SAINT® Works and How It Differs From Conventional TMS
SAINT® is an FDA-cleared treatment for adults with major depressive disorder who have not improved on antidepressants in the current episode. This video explains how it works, and how it differs from conventional TMS.
Conventional TMS usually means about 30 visits over 6 to 9 weeks. SAINT is five visits over five days.
What makes it different: SAINT is the only FDA-cleared depression treatment that uses an fMRI scan to personalize the stimulation target to your individual brain. A 45-minute scan maps your brain and identifies the specific circuit linked to depression. Treatment is then delivered as ten 10-minute sessions per day, with 50-minute breaks between them, across five consecutive days.
In clinical trials, 79% of participants reached remission, with an average of 2.6 days to remission. SAINT is generally well tolerated; the most common side effects reported were mild headache and temporary scalp discomfort at the treatment site.

6 Questions to Ask Any Center Before You Commit
Because "accelerated TMS" can mean very different things at different clinics, protect yourself by asking these essential questions before scheduling a treatment week.
Are you on the manufacturer's verified provider list?
Magnus Medical maintains the official Verified SAINT Provider list. If a center does not appear on their locator, they are not authorized to deliver the SAINT® Neuromodulation System.
Do you perform individualized resting-state fMRI mapping?
SAINT® requires functional MRI connectivity mapping to pinpoint each patient's individual brain target in the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Standard TMS relies on external skull measurements instead.
What does the 5-day treatment week actually look like?
SAINT® delivers 10 ten-minute sessions per day, separated by 50-minute breaks, for five consecutive weekdays (50 sessions total). That's a full-day outpatient commitment each day.
What kind of private space do you provide between sessions?
You spend ~9 hours a day at the clinic. At Neuro Wellness, every SAINT® patient has access to our dedicated SAINT Lounge Wing with private suites, recliners, workspace, and refreshments.
Who is supervising treatment on site?
A board-certified psychiatrist and experienced neuromodulation team should be on site actively monitoring your clinical progress and well-being every day.
How do you coordinate with out-of-town traveling patients?
Because there are very few verified centers, patients travel from across Florida and nationwide. We coordinate consultations via Zoom, assist with travel planning, and streamline appointments.

Every Brain is Wired Differently — Your Targeting Should Be Too
Standard TMS places a magnetic coil over a generic spot on the scalp using a tape measure. SAINT® uses your own 45-minute resting-state fMRI to pinpoint the exact subregion of your dorsolateral prefrontal cortex that connects directly to the hyperactive subgenual cingulate (the brain's depression circuit). That level of anatomical precision is what distinguishes a genuine Verified SAINT Provider.
Answers About SAINT® Provider Verification
What does 'Verified SAINT Provider' mean?
A Verified SAINT Provider is a clinical practice officially authorized by Magnus Medical to deliver the FDA-cleared SAINT® Neuromodulation System. This certification ensures the facility has the proprietary targeting technology, specialized clinical training, fMRI mapping protocol, and verified safety standards required for the 5-day protocol.
How can I verify that Neuro Wellness TMS Centers of America is certified?
Neuro Wellness TMS Centers of America is listed directly on Magnus Medical's official public locator. You can view our verified listing and certification details on our Find a Verified SAINT Provider page.
Is SAINT® the same as accelerated TMS at other clinics?
No. 'Accelerated TMS' is a general schedule description (multiple sessions per day). Only Verified SAINT Providers have access to the FDA-cleared SAINT® Neuromodulation System, proprietary algorithmic brain connectivity mapping, and individualized fMRI targeting. Other accelerated schedules use standard anatomical landmarks.
How does the initial consultation work?
Your initial consultation is conducted as a convenient Zoom video call from home. You'll review your depression history, prior antidepressant trials, and candidacy. As your evaluation evolves, you also have the option to meet with our psychiatrist via Zoom or in person. Only the fMRI mapping and 5-day treatment require in-person attendance at our Coral Springs clinic.
Can patients travel from outside Florida for treatment?
Yes. Because SAINT® is completed in five consecutive days rather than 6 to 9 weeks, patients frequently travel from all over the country and internationally. Our dedicated team assists with hotel recommendations, transportation planning, and full outpatient concierge support.
Ready to Explore Whether SAINT® Is Right for You?
