Your own appointment keeps getting moved
Someone in your house needs you. And you're not doing well.
Your own appointment keeps getting moved
Someone in your house needs you. A parent whose care fell to you. A spouse recovering from surgery. A kid who's struggling. You're the one who keeps track of the medications, drives to the appointments, notices when something's off.
And you're not doing well. You've known that for a while.
The reason you haven't done anything about it isn't denial. It's arithmetic. Your time is spoken for. Adding your own treatment to the schedule means subtracting it from someone who's counting on you, and that math has never worked out.
The thing worth saying plainly
You are not more useful to them depleted. That's not a motivational line — it's the actual reason to take this seriously. Caregiving is sustained by someone who can sustain it.
What SPRAVATO® would ask of you
Honestly: more than a prescription refill, less than you might fear.
Sessions are twice weekly to start, tapering over time. Each visit is about three hours. You'll need a ride to and from every one, which for many caregivers is the hardest part to arrange — and it's worth solving before you start rather than discovering mid-course.
But it's local. It's ongoing rather than a block of time away. It doesn't require you to disappear for a week. For people who can't leave someone for long, that structure matters more than almost anything else about the treatment.
SPRAVATO® is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression and carries a boxed warning. It's given at a certified center under supervision. It's not right for everyone, and whether it's right for you is a clinical question.
